Effective date: November 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Android app “NetCheckup” (package name tw.com.cloneinfo.netcheckup, the “App”) handles your data. The App is developed by Clone Information Ltd. (克隆資訊有限公司, “we” or “us”), published on Google Play, and has no account system.
1. Summary
- The App has no account system and uses no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking SDKs.
- We run no servers for the App. We do not access, store or share any of your data.
- Measurement results and records are stored only on your phone.
- The App connects to Cloudflare and Google for latency measurements and speed tests only after you agree (see Section 3).
2. What the App does
NetCheckup is a tool for checking network quality. With it you can:
- View the signal strength, link speed, band and channel, and security type of your current Wi-Fi connection, along with network details such as IP address, gateway and DNS.
- See live latency, signal and link speed charts, with roaming and band-switch events marked and the access points (APs) and signal before and after each switch recorded.
- Scan nearby APs for channel width, security type, 802.11k/v/r support and AP vendor, with a spectrum view and channel usage table.
- View mobile network carriers, network type, service state, signal, and serving and neighboring cells.
- Run a speed test measuring idle latency, jitter, download, upload and loaded latency, over Wi-Fi or mobile data as you choose.
- Save measurements as records, compare two records, and export them as JSON or CSV files.
3. Where the App connects
Reading Wi-Fi and mobile network information and scanning nearby APs happen entirely on your phone and need no connection. Only the following measurements send network traffic:
- Latency to your router: latency to the router (gateway) you are connected to; this traffic stays on your local network.
- Latency to Cloudflare and Google: latency to Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 and Google’s 8.8.8.8.
- Speed test: uses Cloudflare’s speed test service and exchanges test data with Cloudflare’s servers.
Items 2 and 3 connect only after you tap to agree. As with any network connection, Cloudflare and Google receive your IP address and the measurement traffic, which they handle under their own privacy policies (Cloudflare Privacy Policy, Google Privacy Policy). The App does not send your measurement records, scan results or location.
AP vendors are identified by matching the first three octets of the AP address (BSSID) against the IEEE vendor list built into the App. This lookup happens entirely offline on your phone and connects to nothing.
4. Location permission and network information
Android requires apps to hold location permission to read Wi-Fi scan results and cell information, because this information can be used to infer where you are. The App uses location permission only to read this network information and show it to you. It does not send your location, scan results or cell information to us or any third party.
5. Data stored on your phone
The following data is stored only on your phone, and we cannot access it:
- Measurement records: results you choose to save, which may include Wi-Fi network names, AP addresses, signal, link speed, latency, speed test results and cell information, stored in the App’s private storage.
- App settings: your settings in the App and whether you have agreed to the connected measurements.
6. Exporting records
Records are written to a JSON or CSV file only when you tap “Export”, and saved to the location or handed to the app you choose; after that, the receiving app handles the file under its own policy. Exported files may contain Wi-Fi network names and AP addresses, so do not put them anywhere public.
7. Permissions and their purposes
- Precise location: required by Android to read Wi-Fi scan results and cell information (see Section 4).
- Nearby Wi-Fi devices: to scan nearby APs.
- Phone state: to read multiple SIM cards, carriers, network type and service state. The App does not read your phone number, calls or messages.
- Wi-Fi state and control: to read Wi-Fi connection information and trigger Wi-Fi scans.
- Network state and control: to read network state and, during a speed test, route traffic over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Local network: to measure latency to your router.
- Internet: for the Cloudflare speed test and latency measurements to Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and Google 8.8.8.8, all of which connect only after you agree.
8. Data retention and deletion
- Records on your phone are kept until you delete them. You can delete them in the App at any time.
- Uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage in your phone’s settings, deletes all data the App stores.
- Files you have exported or shared are not deleted with the App. Please delete them yourself.
- We do not store any of your data, so there is no personal data for you to request deletion of.
9. Data security
- Measurement records are stored in the App’s private storage, which other apps cannot read directly.
- The App does not use any third-party SDK to collect data.
No network transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee that data will not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by hacking, malware, weaknesses in the phone itself or other factors beyond our control.
10. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children.
11. This page and our website
This Privacy Policy applies only to the NetCheckup app. This page is hosted on the Clone Information website; for how we handle data when you browse the website (for example, site analytics and the contact form), see the website’s privacy policy (Traditional Chinese).
12. Disclaimer and Terms of Use
By downloading, installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to this Privacy Policy and the terms below. If you do not agree with any part of them, do not download, install or use the App.
- Provided as is. The App is provided “as is” and “as available” and may contain undiscovered errors. We make no express or implied warranties, including as to accuracy, completeness, reliability or fitness for a particular purpose, and we do not guarantee that the App or any of its features will continue to be available or will work on every phone.
- Measurements are for reference only. Signal, link speed, latency and speed test results depend on your phone’s hardware, the Android system, your carrier, network equipment and conditions at the time of measurement, and may differ between phones or over time. Some fields cannot be shown when the phone or system does not provide them. The App is not a certified measuring instrument, and its results must not be relied on for acceptance testing, billing, legal disputes or any situation that requires precise measurement.
- Data usage. Speed tests send and receive large amounts of data. When you test over mobile data, you are responsible for the resulting data usage and charges.
- Lawful use. The App only reads network information your phone can already obtain. You may not use the App or its results to access or interfere with other people’s networks or devices without authorization, or for any unlawful purpose.

Even where such a defect is proven, we are liable only for direct damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence. “Direct damage” means only the damaged property itself and excludes any loss of profit, loss of business opportunity, loss of data, and any special, incidental, indirect, consequential or punitive damages. We are not liable for any damage or loss that could not reasonably have been foreseen. You waive any and all claims against us for losses or damage arising from the risks of using the App described above.
- License and restrictions. We grant you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App. The copyright and other intellectual property rights in the App belong to Clone Information Ltd.. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, repackage or redistribute the App.
- Your indemnity. If we face a third-party claim or suffer damage because you used the App in breach of this Privacy Policy, these terms or the law, you will compensate us for all resulting losses, including reasonable investigation and legal costs.
- Changes to features. We may modify, suspend or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time without notice. Changes to how data is handled will be reflected on this page as described in Section 13.
- Severability and survival. If any provision of this Privacy Policy, or any part of one, is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions and the rest of that provision remain in full force. The disclaimers and limitations of liability in this section apply to the maximum extent permitted by law and continue to apply after you stop using or uninstall the App.
13. Changes to this policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy at any time without notice. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date above. If you continue to use the App after a revision, you are deemed to accept it; if you do not agree, stop using the App and uninstall it immediately.
