Phonelink Privacy Policy

繁體中文版

Effective date: November 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the “Phonelink” Android app (package name tw.com.cloneinfo.phonelink) and its Windows PC app (together, the “App”) handle your data. The App is developed by Clone Information Ltd. (克隆資訊有限公司, “we” or “us”) and has no account system.

1. Summary

  • Your phone and PC connect directly within the same local network, never through any server, including our own.
  • We do not collect, upload or share any of your data. The App has no accounts, advertising, analytics or crash reporting, and does not use Firebase or FCM.
  • Connections are encrypted with mutual-certificate TLS and accepted only from devices you have paired.
  • Notification content, screen and audio are relayed in memory in real time, never written to disk, recorded or saved.

2. What the App does

  • Forwards notifications from your Android phone to a Windows PC on the same local network, shown as native Windows notifications.
  • Shows your phone’s screen and plays its audio on the PC in real time.
  • Lets you control the phone from the PC: tap, swipe, Back, Home, Recents, text input, switching between portrait and landscape, and dimming the phone’s screen.
  • Up to 5 phones can be paired with one PC.

3. Connections and encryption

  • The App connects only between your phone and your PC, directly within the same local network. It does not connect to our servers or any third party’s.
  • Connections use mutual-certificate TLS: the phone and PC verify each other’s certificates, and only paired devices are accepted.
  • To pair, you enter the one-time 12-character pairing code shown on the PC into the phone, or scan the QR code shown on the PC.

4. Notification content

  • Forwarded content includes the name of the app that posted the notification, the notification title and text, and the app icon.
  • This content is passed along in memory only. Neither the phone nor the PC writes it to disk or to any log.
  • You can set the PC app not to show notification text.
  • Android hides the content of notifications containing verification codes, and the App does not attempt to bypass this.

5. Phone screen, audio and remote control

  • Each time you share your screen, you must agree on the phone through Android’s system dialog. You can stop sharing at any time.
  • Screen and audio are sent in memory, in real time, only to your paired PC. They are not recorded or saved.
  • Audio forwarding is part of screen sharing and can be turned off.
  • Remote control uses Android’s Accessibility Service to perform the taps, swipes and system key presses you send from the PC. The App uses it only while you have turned on the Accessibility Service and are sharing your screen, and does not read screen content for any other purpose.

6. Data stored on your devices

The App stores only the following data, on your phone and PC. We cannot access it:

  • Device certificates: used to encrypt connections and verify paired devices. The phone’s private key is kept in the Android Keystore and cannot be exported.
  • Paired device list: device names, certificate fingerprints and pairing times.
  • Settings: your settings in the App, such as whether to connect automatically, and the screen brightness from before dimming (used to restore it afterwards).

The App’s data on the phone is not backed up. On the PC, data is encrypted with Windows DPAPI and stored in your local user folder.

7. Camera

The camera is used only to scan the pairing QR code on the phone. Images are decoded on the phone only and are never stored or sent.

8. Android permissions and their purposes

  • Notification access: to read your phone’s notifications and forward them to your paired PC.
  • Accessibility Service: to perform taps, swipes and system key presses on the phone during remote control from the PC (see Section 5).
  • Media projection: to share the phone’s screen (foreground service type mediaProjection).
  • Record audio (RECORD_AUDIO): to forward audio playing on the phone to the PC, as part of screen sharing; can be turned off.
  • Camera: to scan the pairing QR code.
  • Local network and network: to find your PC on the local network and connect to it (ACCESS_LOCAL_NETWORK, INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE).
  • Foreground service (connectedDevice): to keep the connection to the PC.
  • Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show connection status and the prompt when the PC asks to view the screen.
  • Modify system settings (WRITE_SETTINGS): to let the PC switch the phone between portrait and landscape and dim the phone’s screen.

9. Data retention and deletion

  • Unpairing, or removing the App from your phone and PC, deletes all locally stored App data.
  • We hold none of your data, so there is nothing for you to request deletion of.

10. Data security

  • All connections between the phone and PC are encrypted with mutual-certificate TLS, and unpaired devices cannot connect.
  • The phone’s private key is kept in the Android Keystore and cannot be exported; data on the PC is encrypted with Windows DPAPI.
  • The App does not use any third-party SDK to collect data.

No network transmission or electronic storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee that data will not be accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed by hacking, malware, weaknesses in the phone or PC itself, or other factors beyond our control.

11. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children.

12. This page and our website

This Privacy Policy applies only to the Phonelink app. This page is hosted on the Clone Information website; for how we handle data when you browse the website (for example, site analytics and the contact form), see the website’s privacy policy (Traditional Chinese).

13. Disclaimer and Terms of Use

By downloading, installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to this Privacy Policy and the terms below. If you do not agree with any part of them, do not download, install or use the App.

  1. Provided as is. The App is provided “as is” and “as available” and may contain undiscovered errors. We make no express or implied warranties, including as to accuracy, completeness, reliability or fitness for a particular purpose, and we do not guarantee that the App or any of its features will continue to be available or will work with every phone, PC and network.
  2. Delivery not guaranteed. Notification forwarding and screen sharing depend on the Android system, your phone maker’s battery settings, Windows and your local network, and may be delayed, missed or interrupted. Do not rely on the App as your only way to receive important, urgent or safety-related messages.
  3. Pairing and device custody. You decide which phones and PCs to pair and are responsible for that choice. Anyone who can use a paired PC may see forwarded notifications and the phone’s screen and may control the phone. Keep your PC and pairing codes secure, and unpair devices you no longer use. Notifications and the screen shown on the PC may be visible to people nearby; turn on “hide notification text” or stop sharing as needed.
  4. Lawful use. You may pair, view and control only your own phone, or a phone whose user has given explicit consent. You may not use the App to read anyone’s notifications, view their screen or control their phone without their knowledge or consent, or for any unlawful purpose.
  5. Third-party services. The App relies on the Android system, Windows, your phone maker and your network equipment. Their availability, security and data handling are outside our control, and we do not guarantee that they will be uninterrupted or error-free.
  6. Force majeure. We are not liable for any damage caused by natural disasters, power outages, network failures, third-party service problems, hacking, computer viruses, malware, phishing, or any other force majeure or cause not attributable to us.
  7. Limitation of liability. Except where you prove that a loss was caused directly by a defect in the App itself, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or inability to use, the App, including missed or delayed notifications, unintended actions during remote control, or decisions made on the basis of them. Even where such a defect is proven, we are liable only for direct damage caused by our intentional misconduct or gross negligence. “Direct damage” means only the damaged property itself and excludes any loss of profit, loss of business opportunity, loss of data, and any special, incidental, indirect, consequential or punitive damages. We are not liable for any damage or loss that could not reasonably have been foreseen. You waive any and all claims against us for losses or damage arising from the risks of using the App described above.
  8. License and restrictions. We grant you a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use the App. The copyright and other intellectual property rights in the App belong to Clone Information Ltd.. You may not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, modify, repackage or redistribute the App.
  9. Your indemnity. If we face a third-party claim or suffer damage because you used the App in breach of this Privacy Policy, these terms or the law, you will compensate us for all resulting losses, including reasonable investigation and legal costs.
  10. Changes to features. We may modify, suspend or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time without notice. Changes to how data is handled will be reflected on this page as described in Section 14.
  11. Severability and survival. If any provision of this Privacy Policy, or any part of one, is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions and the rest of that provision remain in full force. The disclaimers and limitations of liability in this section apply to the maximum extent permitted by law and continue to apply after you stop using or uninstall the App.

14. Changes to this policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy at any time without notice. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date above. If you continue to use the App after a revision, you are deemed to accept it; if you do not agree, stop using the App and uninstall it immediately.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy and the disclaimer are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Any dispute arising out of or relating to the App or this Privacy Policy shall be submitted to the district court where our company is located as the court of first instance. This policy is also available in Traditional Chinese; if the two versions differ, the Traditional Chinese version prevails.
